Dig Your Roots Hits UMFM This Week!

Dig Your Roots is all about developing and promoting new Canadian music from the four corners of this culturally diverse and musically rich country. It is an exploration of independent talent from the Canadian underground. Its scope is wide ranging and focuses on original forms of music that are currently under-represented in the Canadian music scene.

This year's project will be focusing on the Roots side of music, with showcases starting on March 18, 2005 and running until March 26. UMFM is pleased to announce that we will be carrying two of the performances, this Sunday's show, which will originate from Saskatoon that features Winnipeg's fantastic D Rangers, as well as the Cracker Cats and John Wort Hannam. Also, we will be carrying the concert from Goose Bay, Labrador on Thursday, March 24 featuring The Flummies, Petunia and Rob Currie. Both shows can be heard right here on UMFM starting at 8PM and running until 10PM.

Support Great Canadian Roots Music, and listen to these two concerts!

A New Year is upon us, and UMFM has returned in full force from our annual holiday shenanigans. A couple of our longstanding programs have moved to new homes starting this week, so be sure to catch the following in the brand new timeslots, effective January 7th.

The Komodo Dragon Show with it's regular cast of charachters including Peter Lima and of course Von Wichert has moved back to it's former home, last night Tuesday from 12 AM to 2 PM. You'll never know what Peter has prepared for you...

The Dope Spot, hosted by @Large, moves to Wednesday nights from 10PM till midnite. Expect to hear the newest and freshest releases since the last episode; plus classics, breaks and hi-jinx that'll make a 13 year old giggle and turn down his radio so his mom can't hear. Every episode @Large throws down the best new Hip Hop he's unearthed in a recordable mixtape format, the playists are bonkers.

Finally, the always electic Mindwarp, hosted by the Black Orchid, takes over Thursday nights from 8PM to 10PM, playing a fantastic mix of music that transcends all genres.

Be sure to keep your radio dial locked at 101.5 UMFM in 2005!
