Football Returns for 2008! Bison Sports, in conjunction with
Campus Radio 101.5 UMFM, is pleased to announce the return of Bison Football to
the radio airwaves for the full 2008 season. UMFM will be the exclusive location
to listen to all the home and away action of Bison Football during the upcoming
year. This will be the ninth consecutive season for Bison Football on
101.5 FM. The partnership with campus station will also have, for the first time,
four regular season home hockey games (two mens and two womens) and
up to two playoff games. All regular season hockey broadcasts would take place
during second half of the season in January and February of 2009. The games and
broadcast crew for both football and hockey will be decided at a later time. In
addition, the partnership between UMFM and Bison Sports will expand to a weekly
Bison Sports Show during the CIS season. We are very happy to bring
Bison Football to all UMFM listeners across the city and around the world via
the web for an amazing ninth consecutive season. As a campus radio station we
are proud to broadcast the Vanier Cup champions as the set to defend their title
and look forward to providing more Bison Sports exposure via hockey broadcast
and the Bison Sports show, stated Jared McKetiak, UMFM Station Manager.
The 2008 Manitoba Bison Football season kicks off with their first Canada
West regular season game at home against the Regina Rams on Saturday, August 30
at 1 p.m. For all road games, there will be a 15 minute pre-game show while there
is a 30 minute pre-game show for all home games. Meet
The Game Day Crew!
UMFM is very pleased to welcome back Derek
Taylor and Matt Rollason, who will be calling the Hustlin' Herd action
all season long. Be sure to tune in to every exciting Bison Football broadcast
to stay on top of all the scores and game breaking highlights! Join us for all
the game day action, starting with our pre-game show which kicks off 30 minutes
before gametime for home games, or 15 minutes prior to gametime for road games. Let's
meet the crew: DEREK TAYLOR is a long-time sports fanatic with a
wealth of broadcasting experience. He spent the past four years with Citytv Winnipeg.
Prior to that, his sports love was cultivated working at TSN in Toronto. Taylor
studied journalism at Ryerson University in Toronto. He is currently working at
Fox Sports Net as one of the station's foremost soccer authorities. A former
team captain, MATT ROLLASON played football with the Bisons from 1997-2001,
with his last Bisons game at the Skydome in Toronto for the Vanier Cup. Since
then, he has gone on to coach the linebackers with Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football
Club of the Canadian Junior Football league. He is currently employed by the Winnipeg
Fire Paramedic Service. The newest member of our crew, MIKE HOWARD,
finished off a spectacular five year university career with the Manitoba Bisons
Football team by being an instrumental part of the 2007 Vanier Cup championship
squad. He tied a CIS record for interceptions in a Vanier Cup game with 3 interceptions
and won the Ted Morris Memorial Trophy, which recognizes the Vanier Cup MVP. Bison
History on UMFM For the tenth consecutive season, CJUM-FM will
cover the Manitoba Bisons for each and every game during the 2008 year. This venture
continues to be a resounding success, allowing the public and student body the
opportunity to tune in for high-calibre live play by play, at 101.5 FM and on
the web at www.umfm.com. Sponsorship Opportunities on
UMFM CJUM-FM operates on volunteer power, with limited funding
from the students at the University of Manitoba. Bison Play by Play is only possible
with the help of our fabulous sponsors. This year, we are making sponsorships
even more affordable by offering a variety of packages suitable for every budget.
It's a great opportunity to both promote your business and show your grass roots
support for C.I.A.U. Sports and Campus and Community Radio. |
