Our Station
UMFM is a Campus and Community Radio station owned and administered
by the University of
Manitoba Students' Union (UMSU). We are primarily run by volunteers
comprising students from the University
of Manitoba, and community members in and around Winnipeg. Previously
broadcasting back in the 1970's, the original CJUM was shut down
due to financial difficulties, but due to popular demand, was brought
back after 18 years of planning.
Re-incarnation
On September 4th, 1998 at 6:00pm Central Time, the UofM Campus
Radio started its first ever broadcast. We would like to thank all
the people who made this dream possible and we hope the station
will have a long and very successful on-air presence in Manitoba.
Promise of Performance
UMFM 101.5 has a promise to play virtually hit-free radio, an exciting
opportunity for all the unique music makers among us, and the people
who appreciate things fresh and innovative. As this excerpt from
our Mission Statement says:
"UMFM
is committed to presenting our campus and community with a distinct
and diverse universe of music and ideas, focussing on locally produced
programming created by volunteers in a positive and creative atmosphere."
Partnerships
Recently, UMFM has partnered itself with NewWinnipeg.com
to provide you with the most up-to-date local news.
